Tournament Info

The Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament is the second oldest tennis event in the United States. The tournament was created with the intentions of having the best teams from the East and the West coasts compete against each other. The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club has been the host of the PCD Tournament since 1942. In the 121 years of its existence, the PCD Tournament had the greatest number of entries in 2010 with 182, making 91 teams. In 2010 the following colleges participated: University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, University of California San Diego, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, Claremont McKenna-Mudd-Scripps College, Villanova University, Rice University, and Pepperdine University. Tennis and its players have evolved since the first PCD tournament in 1890, but one thing has remained constant over time: competition.
